The ladies in all their glory

Where has the time gone???

Wow, its been a long time since ive posted on here. Well since my last update, i have now completed a Top Up Ba Degree in Production for Live Events at LCC. This wasn't my first choice, but because my university scrapped my Top Up BA for Floral design and Events Management course, this was the next nearest thing i could qualify in. And here i am, after handing in my final piece.

For my final project, i ran floral design workshops for a Women's charity 'The Baytree Centre' based in Brixton. Here i ran a 4 week course teaching the basic aspects of floral design, i taught between 6-7 ladies each week. They charity were so impressed with the classes they have asked me to come back and teach again, which is lovely. Heres a snippet of some of the ladies i taught, with their wonderful creations.

My Degree Show June 2010

My final project was to create a fund raising charity event based in London (of course this was all hypothetical). I had to choose a well known celebrity who supported the charity and a theme for the evening event. My chosen charity was  the Alzheimer's Society. I had to create a floral entrance piece and a table centre which would be at the event. This all contributed to my final show, so below are the pictures of the designs i would of used at the event.

My Degree Show June 2010

This design is meant to show the brain of a person with Alzheimer's, its showing that the brain is out of control and not thinking as one should. Underneath the wackiness of the flowers exploding, i created a wire mesh which is meant to resemble the brain.

This design is meant to show the latter stages of the disease, that's why i used light peaceful colours to resemble the brain slowly becoming dormant. Butterfly's were placed on the grass to show the living soul leaving the body and flying off to rest.

The Sick Childrens Trust Ball

This was an event which i was very proud to be apart of. I was asked along with some other students from my course, we created bright pink floral centerpieces for the evening ball. The evening was setup to raise money for the chairty for sick children, the evening turned out to be a success, raising over £50,000 through raffles and auctions throughout the night.
